We speak with the homeowner(s) on title either virtually or in person to receive the annual electricity usage, billing history, and other pertinent info. This is necessary to accurately assess your solar eligibility. After receiving your customized solar proposal & quote, you will then confirm what we discussed prior to signing documents being sent.

Once all the installation documents have been signed, the next step is the site survey. At this stage in the process, you’ll receive a call from your solar consultant to confirm the scheduled date & time you agreed to for a review your property. The site auditor will check your roof, attic, electrical panel, utility meter, and other areas of your property that may pertain to your installation.

When your site surveyor is finished, they will submit the information to their expert engineer team so they can work together to finalize the custom designs & solar panel layout of your new solar system. When you approve, you'll receive an email with a link to access your project timeline containing real-time updates which includes the status of the installation progress, your approved proposed design and where you can review your solar system at any time.

**Note that any changes to the design after this stage can and will cause delays in completing your solar project.

After design completion, the install team will work behind the scenes to acquire all necessary permits. Once the final drawings are submitted to your local municipality’s planning & development or building division department, we can start to build your system.

Many cities review and approve plans within a few days, but some cities can drag their feet taking several weeks. Similarly, interconnection submittal requests and the subsequent approval processes vary depending on the utility companies timeline and/or cooperation.

**Any open permit, code enforcement ticket or any issues concerning unpermitted structures on the installation site will cause your local municipality to put a hold on the solar permit.

Now that the plans have been approved and permits have been acquired, your project manager will call to schedule the delivery of equipment and the installation of your solar system. On this call, we will make sure beforehand to go over any important information such as access requirements for your installation.

This is by far the quickest part of the process (typically one to three days) depending on your system size, any scheduling conflicts, bad weather conditions and/or any other unforeseen events. Each of our installation partners are trained, licensed & bonded, technically skilled, and highly experienced.

When your system is built, the installers will then notify your local AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) to come inspect your new system. Once your system has been inspected, it’s just a matter of waiting on approval to turn it on!! Dates for inspection are subject to the availability of Local Inspectors. Inspections typically only last about an hour, though times depend on the Local Inspector. This also may take more than one inspection, in the event that adjustments are required.

The last step in the process is Granting your system Permission to Operate or PTO. Don’t worry, we’re still with you! We’ve submitted all the proper forms, now we will work with your utility company to grant PTO. Once the utility company approves and grants Permission to Operate, we will notify you via email or a quick phone call.

Your Project Coordinator will walk you through the proper steps to have your system turned on, go over system monitoring, and answer any final questions you may have. Once your system is energized, you’re now generating your own power through solar energy!!
